Northeast Road Trip
Well I just got back from a five day road trip of the Northeast. Sorry to those I forgot to tell that I was leaving; it was kind of a spontaneous idea. Originally, Hayley and I were supposed to go camping for one evening but then we conjured up the idea of a road trip. The five day journey took us through the busy corridor of I-95 in Connecticut and Rhode Island, to Providence, over to Massachusetts and across the state to Albany by way of back country roads, up the New York State Thruway/Adirondack Northway to Montreal, Canada, and then finally back home. We nourished ourselves with a variety of food: doughnuts, blueberry muffins and SPAM sandwiches for breakfast; PB&J sandwiches, pepperoni and cheese sandwiches for lunch; and canned soup and toast with maple butter for dinner. Thirst was quenched mainly by way of Juicy Juice. Though we brought a tent with us, the trunk of Hayley's Ford Taurus station wagon, with the back seats pushed down, was where we slept.
Hayley and I left New Jersey on Monday, late in the afternoon. We made it just thirty minutes South of Providence, RI, when we decided to make camp in the Arcadia Wildlife Management Area. According to Hayley's trusty road map, camping was an option. But since it was dark and raining, and both Hayley and I were beginning to feel fatigued, we drove into the wildlife area just a short ways and parked the car on the side of the road. The rest of the night involved playing cards and snuggling for warmth.
On day two of my adventure, Hayley and I made it to Providence around eleven in the morning. Hayley has some friends who go to school in Providence, so we decided to meet up with them. Since Hayley's one friend didn't get out of work until two in the afternoon, we had some time to kill. We wandered around Providence with no general plan, until we found it necessary to head back to where we parked, by the Brown University campus.
